If you have been refreshing ssc.gov.in every morning looking for the Constable GD 2027 notification, here is the straight answer.
As on 20 October 2026, the SSC Constable (GD) 2027 notification has not been released. The SSC Annual Calendar 2026-27 listed it for September 2026 with applications closing in October 2026. That window has passed. The notification is late.
We are not going to give you a fake date, a fake vacancy number or a fake "link active" button. What follows is only what can actually be verified right now — and then the four concrete things you should finish this week so that you can apply within an hour of the notification going live.
What is confirmed as of today
| SSC Constable (GD) 2027 notification | Not released |
| Calendar date it was due | September 2026 (notification), October 2026 (last date) |
| Calendar exam window | January – March 2027 |
| SSC MTS and Havaldar 2026 | Also pending — calendar shows TBA |
| Previous cycle (GD 2026) | Result declared 12 October 2026 |
| Vacancy count for 2027 | Not announced |
Read that last row carefully, because it matters.
About the "45,000 vacancies" and "25,487 posts" numbers you are seeing
Neither figure is an official 2027 number.
25,487 was the vacancy count for the 2026 cycle — the one whose result was declared on 12 October 2026. Any site currently showing 25,487 next to the words "SSC GD 2027" has copied an old page and changed the year.
45,000-plus is a projection being circulated by coaching websites. SSC has not announced it. It may turn out close, it may not. Until the notification PDF exists, there is no vacancy number for 2027.
This is not a small thing to get wrong. People make real decisions on these figures — whether to drop a private job, whether to pay for a coaching batch, whether to attempt GD at all versus Delhi Police. Decide on confirmed numbers, not forecasts.
Why is it delayed?
SSC has not published a reason, so anyone telling you the exact cause is guessing. Two explanations are circulating in reporting around the delay: load and capacity issues on the Commission's application infrastructure, and pending clarity on Agniveer reservation in the CAPF constable intake.
The Agniveer point is the one worth understanding, because it affects the vacancy table rather than just the date. Central Armed Police Forces have been directed to reserve a share of constable vacancies for ex-Agniveers, along with age relaxation and exemption from the physical test for that group. Working that into the force-wise and category-wise vacancy table across BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles, SSF and NCB is genuinely complicated, and a notification issued with a wrong reservation table would have to be withdrawn.
Practical takeaway: a delay of a few weeks in the notification does not usually move the exam by the same amount. The calendar exam window is January to March 2027. If SSC wants to protect that window, the application period gets compressed rather than the exam pushed. Which is exactly why the preparation advice below is about readiness, not patience.
The full SSC 2026-27 calendar status
These are the Annual Calendar 2026-27 dates, with where each exam actually stands today. The calendar was released by SSC on 8 January 2026.

So if you are a Class 10 or Class 12 pass candidate, the honest position is this: there is no SSC application open to you today. CHSL closed on 7 October, CPO on 30 September. GD and MTS are the next two, and both are pending. That is a frustrating place to be, and it is also the best possible time to do the four things below.
Four things to finish before the notification drops
1. Complete your One Time Registration on ssc.gov.in — today
SSC uses a two-step system. One Time Registration (OTR) creates your permanent candidate profile; the application form itself is separate and short. You cannot apply for anything until OTR is complete.
OTR asks for your name, parents' names, date of birth, matriculation details, category, Aadhaar, a photograph and a signature — all exactly as they appear on your Class 10 certificate. If you do this on the day the notification releases, you will be doing it alongside a few lakh other people on a server that is already struggling. Do it now, while nothing is open and the site is quiet.
One warning that costs people their candidature every single cycle: your name, father's name and date of birth in OTR must match your matriculation certificate character for character. Not your Aadhaar, not your PAN — your Class 10 certificate. SSC rejects on this mismatch at document verification, after you have cleared the exam and the physical test. Check it twice today rather than discover it in 2028.
2. Fix your photograph and signature now
SSC is strict about the photograph. It must be recent, taken against a light background, with your face clearly visible, no cap, no sunglasses, and in recent cycles SSC has required the photograph to be taken within a specified recent period with the date and time visible on it. Studio photographs from two years ago get rejected.
Get a fresh photo taken this week to SSC's specification and keep both the photo and a signature scan saved on your phone and on an email to yourself. When the window is short, this is the difference between applying on day one and applying on day nine.
3. Start the physical and medical preparation — this is where most candidates actually fail
Here is the thing nobody tells Class 10 candidates clearly enough. The written exam is not the hard part of GD Constable. The Physical Efficiency Test and the Detailed Medical Examination are where the bulk of qualified candidates get eliminated.
You cannot build a 5 km run in two weeks. You can build it in three months, which is roughly the time you have. Start now:
- Running. The male PET in recent cycles has been a 5 km run in 24 minutes, with 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes for candidates from specified hill and tribal areas. For women it has been 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes, with 800 m in 5 minutes for the specified areas. Confirm the exact standard from the notification when it releases, but train to those numbers from today.
- Height and chest. These are measured, not trainable. Look up the standards for your category and region before you spend three months preparing.
- Medical. Get your eyes tested now. Vision standards, colour blindness, flat foot, knock knees, varicose veins, overweight BMI and visible tattoos in non-permitted locations are the common disqualifiers. Every one of them is better discovered in October 2026 than at the medical in 2027. Some are correctable if you start early. Tattoo removal, for instance, takes months.
4. Study the four sections — they do not change
The GD Constable computer based exam in the recent cycle was 80 questions for 160 marks in 60 minutes, with each question carrying 2 marks and 0.25 marks deducted for a wrong answer. Four sections of 20 questions each:
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General Intelligence and Reasoning | 20 | 40 |
| General Knowledge and General Awareness | 20 | 40 |
| Elementary Mathematics | 20 | 40 |
| English or Hindi | 20 | 40 |
| Total | 80 | 160 |
The paper is available in Hindi, English and several regional languages. The syllabus is at Class 10 level and has been stable for years, so this is safe to prepare for before the notification exists.
One tactical point on the 0.25 negative marking. With 2 marks per question, a wrong answer costs you only one-eighth of what a correct answer earns. That ratio rewards informed guessing far more than SSC's graduate-level papers do. If you can eliminate two of the four options, answer it.
Expected eligibility — based on the last cycle, to be confirmed
These are the criteria from the previous notification. SSC can change any of them in the 2027 notification, particularly the Agniveer provisions. Use this to decide whether to prepare, not as final authority.
| Qualification | Class 10 (Matriculation) pass from a recognised board |
| Age | 18 to 23 years, with the usual relaxations — 3 years OBC, 5 years SC/ST |
| Nationality | Indian citizen |
| Application fee | Rs. 100, with women, SC, ST and ex-servicemen candidates exempt |
| Forces | BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles, SSF, NCB |
| Stages | Computer based exam → Physical Efficiency and Physical Standard Test → Detailed Medical Examination |
Note the age ceiling of 23. It is one of the tightest in central recruitment, and the age is reckoned as on a cut-off date specified in the notification, not as on the date you apply. If you are turning 23 around now, check that cut-off date the moment the notification appears — it decides whether this cycle is your last one.
Problems candidates hit — and what to do
"Site X says the form is out and has a link. Is it real?"
No. There is no SSC GD 2027 application link today, because there is no notification. Any "apply now" button you see leads either to a coaching sign-up or to the ssc.gov.in homepage. The only place a real link ever appears first is ssc.gov.in itself.
"Someone is charging Rs. 500 to fill the form for me when it opens."
Do not pay. The fee is Rs. 100 paid directly to SSC, and women, SC, ST and ex-servicemen candidates pay nothing at all. A middleman with your OTR login can change your category or your details. Fill it yourself.
"I will turn 23 before the exam. Am I out?"
Not necessarily. Age is reckoned as on a cut-off date printed in the notification, which is typically well before the exam. Many candidates who are over 23 on exam day were within limits on the cut-off date and are perfectly eligible. Wait for the notification and read that one line.
"Should I wait for GD or apply elsewhere?"
Apply elsewhere as well. There is nothing to wait for — waiting does not improve your position by one mark. Right now there are live notifications you may be eligible for with only Class 10 or 12, including state police recruitments and apprenticeship engagements. Nothing about applying to them affects your GD application later.
"My OTR has a spelling mistake in my father's name."
Fix it before any application window opens. Certain OTR fields become difficult or impossible to change once you have submitted an application against them, and a mismatch with your matriculation certificate is a rejection ground at document verification. Log in today and correct it while nothing is pending.
"I cleared the written exam last time but failed the medical. Can I apply again?"
Yes, provided you are within the age limit. And this time get a private medical examination done against the published standards before the cycle starts, so you know exactly what to correct. Candidates repeatedly fail the same medical point twice because nobody ever told them which one it was. You can ask for the reason.
"What if the notification releases with only a two-week window?"
That is a realistic possibility given the delay and the January to March exam window, and it is the whole reason for this article. If your OTR is done, your photograph is to specification and your documents are scanned, a two-week window is comfortable. If none of that is done, two weeks is how people end up not applying at all.
"Is SSC MTS also coming?"
The Annual Calendar lists MTS and Havaldar 2026 with dates marked TBA, and it has not been notified. If you are a Class 10 pass candidate, prepare for both — the syllabus overlap between MTS and GD is very high, so the same three months of study serves both notifications.
What we will do when it releases
We will publish the full notification details on the day it appears — force-wise and category-wise vacancies, the exact age cut-off date, PET and PST standards, the fee, and a step-by-step application walkthrough. The official notification PDF will be mirrored on our own server so you can download it even when ssc.gov.in is overloaded on day one, which it reliably is.
Until then: finish your OTR, get your photograph taken, and start running. Those three things are worth more than any amount of refreshing.
