The Staff Selection Commission is releasing SSC CGL Tier 1 admit cards in batches for the Combined Graduate Level examination, which runs from 30 September to 30 October 2026. Cards have already been issued for the 30 September, 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 22 October sittings.
If your exam date is later in the window, your card is not late — it simply has not been generated yet. SSC publishes each batch roughly two to three days before the exam date it covers.
Where the admit card actually comes from
This is the single thing most candidates get wrong. The SSC CGL Tier 1 admit card is not released on the main ssc.gov.in portal for every candidate. It is released by the regional SSC office that your exam centre falls under.
Your login works on the main site, but the admit card link lives on your region's website:
| Region | States covered | Website |
|---|---|---|
| Northern (NR) | Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand | sscnr.nic.in |
| Central (CR) | Uttar Pradesh, Bihar | ssc-cr.org |
| Southern (SR) | Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu | sscsr.gov.in |
| Western (WR) | Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa | sscwr.net |
| Eastern (ER) | West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Andaman & Nicobar, Sikkim | sscer.org |
| North Eastern (NER) | Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh | sscner.nic.in |
| Madhya Pradesh Sub-region (MPR) | Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh | sscmpr.org |
| Karnataka Kerala (KKR) | Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep | ssckkr.kar.nic.in |
If you applied from Hyderabad or Vijayawada, your card is on the Southern Region site, not the national one. Checking the wrong site is why people believe their admit card has not been released.
How to download it
- Open ssc.gov.in and click Login in the top menu.
- Enter your registration number and password. If you have forgotten the password, use the "Forgot password" link — it recovers through your registered mobile or email, so use the number you applied with.
- Go to the Admit Card section and select Combined Graduate Level Examination 2026.
- If the link is not there, open your regional SSC website and use the admit card link on its home page. Some regions also allow a download using registration number and date of birth, without the password.
- Download the PDF and check every field against your application before printing.
- Print it in colour if you can. A clear photograph on the printout avoids an argument at the verification desk.
Check these fields the moment you download
An error on the admit card is far easier to fix now than at the centre on exam morning. Verify:
- Your name, father's name and date of birth, exactly as on your ID proof
- The exam date, reporting time and shift timing
- The full centre address — including the city, which is not always the city you asked for
- Your photograph and signature are visible and not blank boxes
- Your category and any scribe facility you applied for
Report any mismatch to your regional SSC office immediately. Do not wait until the exam date.
What to carry to the exam centre
- A printed copy of the admit card. A copy on your phone is not accepted.
- One original photo ID — Aadhaar is the safest. Voter ID, PAN, passport, driving licence or a school/college ID with photograph also work.
- Two recent passport-size photographs matching the one on your application.
- A transparent ballpoint pen.
- If you applied for a scribe, the approved scribe documentation along with the scribe's ID proof.
Reach the centre at the reporting time printed on the card, not the exam start time. Biometric registration and frisking take time, and gates close well before the paper begins — late entry is refused without exception.
Problems candidates hit — and what to do
"My exam date is in the window but there is no admit card." Cards are issued batch by batch, two to three days before each sitting. Check the status/city intimation slip instead — it is released about ten days ahead and confirms your date and city even before the card itself exists.
"I have forgotten my registration number." Use the "Forgot Registration Number" option on the SSC login page. It recovers using your name, father's name, date of birth and registered mobile number or email.
"My registered mobile number is no longer in use." Recover through the registered email instead. If both are gone, contact your regional SSC office directly with your application details — this takes days, so start immediately rather than the night before.
"The download page shows an error or the PDF will not open." Traffic peaks in the hours right after a batch is released. Try outside those hours, use a desktop browser rather than a phone, and try the regional site if the main portal is failing. The PDF is sometimes password-protected with your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format.
"My centre is in a different city from the one I chose." SSC allocates centres by availability, and there is no change facility once allotted. Plan your travel as soon as you see the address. For an early-morning shift in another city, travelling the previous day is the safer choice.
"My photograph on the admit card is blank or unclear." Carry two matching passport photographs and your original photo ID, and report to the centre early. Raise it with the regional office in writing as well — do not rely on sorting it out at the desk alone.
What happens after Tier 1
Tier 1 is qualifying for Tier 2 and its marks are used for shortlisting. The answer key is published after all shifts are complete, including any re-examination — which means not before the 30 October window closes. Once it appears you get a short objection window, usually a few days, with a fee per question challenged that is refunded if your objection is upheld.
Download your response sheet when it is released and save it. It is the only record of what you actually marked, and without it you cannot verify a disputed answer later.
