National Insurance Company Limited is recruiting 321 Administrative Officers (Generalists and Specialists), Scale I, and the online application window closes on 28 October 2026. That is 5 days from today. Registration, editing and fee payment all stop on the same date — there is no separate grace period for payment, which is the detail that catches people out every year.
Applications are accepted online only, through the IBPS-hosted portal at ibpsreg.ibps.in/niiclsep26. The official route to that portal is NICL's own website, where you click Apply Online under the Recruitment section.

What this page does and does not cover
Everything on this page is taken from two official sources: the application portal itself, and the five reference documents that portal publishes. We have mirrored all five below so they stay reachable.
The post-wise split between Generalist and Specialist vacancies, the age limit, the educational qualification, the application fee amount and the examination dates are set out in NICL's detailed advertisement, which lives on NICL's own website. At the time of writing that website is not responding, so we have not been able to mirror it and we are not going to reproduce those numbers from second-hand sources. Several widely-shared figures for this recruitment differ from one another, and a wrong age limit read five days before a deadline is worse than no figure at all. Check them against the detailed advertisement on nationalinsurance.nic.co.in before you rely on them. We will add our mirror here as soon as the site is reachable.
The mistake that costs you the fee: applying for more than one discipline
This is the single most expensive error available in this recruitment, and it is stated plainly in NICL's Important Points document:
Candidate can apply for any ONE discipline only. In case of multiple applications (within the same discipline or across the disciplines) only the latest valid (completed) application will be retained and the application fee / intimation charges paid for the other multiple registration(s) will stand forfeited.
Read that carefully, because there are two traps in one sentence.
- Across disciplines. If you fancy your chances at both a Generalist post and a Specialist post, you cannot hedge. Pick one. A second application does not give you a second shot — it cancels the first and keeps the later one.
- Within the same discipline. Starting a fresh registration because you made a mistake in the first one, or because you could not remember your password, also counts as a multiple application. The earlier fee is forfeited, not transferred. If you need to correct something, log back in with your provisional registration number and edit — do not register again.
Scan these four documents before you open the form
The application will not register at all unless the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and hand-written declaration are all uploaded to specification. Each has a different size and a different ink colour, and the form rejects files that miss the range.
| Document | Physical size | Pixel dimensions | File size | Rules |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm | 200 × 230 px (preferred) | 20–50 KB | Recent passport-style colour photo, light or white background |
| Signature | — | 140 × 60 px (preferred) | 10–20 KB | Black ink on white paper. Capital letters are not accepted |
| Left thumb impression | 3 cm × 3 cm | 240 × 240 px at 200 DPI | 20–50 KB | Black or blue ink on white paper. Right thumb allowed if no left thumb |
| Hand-written declaration | 10 cm × 5 cm | 800 × 400 px at 200 DPI | 50–100 KB | Black ink on white paper, English, candidate’s own handwriting, not capitals |
Set the scanner to a minimum of 200 DPI and True Colour, crop to the edge of the image, and save as .jpg or .jpeg — no other format is accepted.
One warning about the signature size. The official document gives the range as 10–20 KB in one bullet and then says “not more than 20kb” in the next. Both readings agree on the 20 KB ceiling, so keep the signature between 10 and 20 KB and you satisfy either interpretation. The 20–50 KB figure in the same paragraph belongs to the thumb impression, not the signature.
The declaration has to be copied exactly
Write this on white paper with a black pen, in your own handwriting, in English, not in capital letters:
I, ___________ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.
Four separate things invalidate it, and each one is listed in the official guidance:
- written in capital letters;
- written in any language other than English;
- written by anybody other than the candidate;
- uploaded unclear or smudged.
The same applies to the signature: if the signature you sign on the attendance sheet or call letter on exam day does not match the one you uploaded, you are disqualified. Sign the paper the way you normally sign, not a careful one-off version you will never reproduce.
Visually impaired candidates who cannot write may have the declaration text typed, put their left thumb impression below the typed text, and upload that instead.
You will also be asked for a live photograph
Separately from the scanned passport photo, the form requires a live photograph captured on the spot — either through your webcam using the Capture Photo option, or by scanning a QR code with your phone and taking the picture there, after which it uploads itself into the form. Plan for it: you need decent light and a plain light background at the moment you are filling the form, not just a photo file on your desktop. No cap, no sunglasses, no mask, no shadow across the face.
Payment: the step that decides whether you have applied
Fees are payable online only, through the gateway built into the form. Accepted instruments:
- Debit cards (RuPay / Visa / MasterCard / Maestro)
- Credit cards
- Internet banking
- IMPS
- Cash cards and mobile wallets
Three rules that matter more than they look:
- Do not press Back or Refresh after submitting payment details. Wait for the server. Pressing either is the documented way to get charged twice.
- If no e-Receipt is generated, the payment failed. That is the official test — not a bank SMS, not a debited balance. Log in again with your provisional registration number and password and repeat the payment.
- Print the e-Receipt and the application form containing the fee details, and keep them. If the form containing fee details cannot be generated, the transaction was not successful.
Because the fee window and the registration window close on the same day, candidates are officially advised not to wait until the last date to pay. A gateway failure on the evening of 28 October 2026 leaves you with nowhere to go.
“Editing closes 28 October” does not mean you can edit after submitting
These two official statements sit side by side and are easy to misread together. The portal lists Closure for editing application details as 28 October 2026. The How to Apply document says no change will be possible or entertained after clicking COMPLETE REGISTRATION.
Both are true, and the practical meaning is this: you can save a part-filled application with Save and Next and come back to it any number of times until 28 October 2026 — but the moment you click Complete Registration, the form is frozen. Use the Preview tab before that click, and check your name and your father's or husband's name letter by letter against your certificates and ID proof. A mismatch there can disqualify the candidature.
Candidates with benchmark disabilities using a scribe
The scribe rules carry two conditions specific to this recruitment that candidates coming from bank exams will not be expecting.
- The scribe's academic stream is restricted for Specialist posts. For a Generalist discipline the scribe may be from any academic stream. For a Specialist discipline the scribe must be from a stream different to the specialist stream being applied for.
- The scribe must not be a current employee of National Insurance Company Limited.
Beyond that, the usual conditions apply and all of them are enforced at the cost of both candidature and scribe: you arrange and pay for your own scribe; the scribe may not be a candidate in this process, in any session; the same scribe cannot be used by two candidates; and a medical certificate from a government healthcare institution must be produced at the exam centre.
Compensatory time is 20 minutes for every hour of the examination. The critical procedural point: only candidates who registered for compensatory time at the time of online application will get it, because the extra time is granted by the test system itself and cannot be added at the centre. A request made later is not likely to be entertained. If you need it, tick it now — before 28 October 2026.
After you have applied
- Print the application form and the e-receipt. The last date to print is 12 November 2026, 15 days after registration closes. Do it the same day; the facility is not guaranteed to behave on the final date.
- Keep the registered email and mobile number active until the recruitment ends. NICL sends call letters, and intimations for pre-recruitment training and the Regional Language Test, to those contacts only.
- Check your spam or junk folder for registration emails — this is specifically flagged in the official guidance.
- Call letters and the Information Handout are downloaded from NICL's website, not from the application portal. Candidates are advised to check it at regular intervals for the examination date.
- Admission to the online test is provisional, without document verification. Being allowed to sit the exam proves nothing about your eligibility; that is scrutinised later, and candidature can be cancelled at any stage.
