Application Fee

General / OBC / EWS Rs. 100/-
SC / ST / PwD No Fee

Payment Modes: Online only (payment gateway on www.rrcjaipur.in)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Class 10 examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) from a recognised Board, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  • National Trade Certificate in the notified trade, issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).

No rounding off will be done. The notification prints this in the qualification clause itself — a matriculation aggregate of 49.8% does not become 50%.

The qualification must be held as on the date of submission of the application. Candidates awaiting the result of their final examination need not apply.

Minimum medical standards at document verification: height 137 cm, weight 25.4 kg, chest expansion not less than 3.8 cm, certified in the format at Annexure-IV by a Government Authorised Doctor (Gazetted) not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon.

Age Relaxation

Candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age as on 22.11.2026.

  • SC / ST: upper age limit relaxed by 5 years.
  • OBC: upper age limit relaxed by 3 years.
  • Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): upper age limit relaxed by 10 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen: relaxable by up to an additional 10 years — service rendered in the Defence Forces plus 3 years — provided a minimum of 6 months’ service at a stretch has been put in. This does not apply to Ex-Servicemen who have already joined Government service on the civil side after availing Ex-Servicemen status.

Seats shown for PwBD and Ex-Servicemen in the vacancy tables are not separate; they are included in the total number of seats. Candidates claiming SC/ST reservation must produce a caste certificate in the Central Government format; children of Ex-Servicemen and of Armed Forces personnel must produce a discharge certificate or serving certificate of the parent at document verification.

Selection Process

There is no written examination and no interview. Selection is made entirely from a merit list built out of marksheets.

  1. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the percentage of marks in matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate) plus the ITI marks in the trade applied for. The panel is drawn on the simple average of the two.
  2. For matriculation, marks obtained in all subjects are reckoned — not any single subject or group of subjects.
  3. For ITI, the marks mentioned in the provisional or final certificate are reckoned.
  4. Tie-break: where two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred. If the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation examination earlier is considered first.
  5. Candidates finally enlisted are subject to verification of original testimonials and production of a medical certificate as per Annexure-IV.

No centralized merit list will be formed. The final merit list is prepared division/unit wise, trade wise and community wise, equal to the number of slots, in descending order of percentage. Your competition is only the candidates who chose the same unit, in the same trade, in the same community.

After the merit list is prepared it is advised to the respective Divisions/Units, where document verification and the medical examination are held.

Exam Pattern

No examination is conducted for this recruitment. There is no written test, no objective paper, no typing test, no physical efficiency test and no interview. Nothing can be prepared for — the merit list comes entirely from the Class 10 and ITI percentages already printed on your certificates.

What a candidate does control is the choice of unit, made once on the application form and never changeable afterwards. Because the merit list is prepared separately for each unit, each trade and each community, the realistic strategy is to compare the slots available in your trade across the eight units and weigh that against where other candidates with your trade are likely to apply.

How to Apply

  1. Apply ONLINE only at www.rrcjaipur.in, from 23.10.2026 up to 22.11.2026 till 23:59 hrs. No physical copy of the application is to be sent to RRC; even if received, no cognizance is given to it.
  2. Candidates should be in possession of an Aadhaar Card. The 12-digit Aadhaar number is filled at registration and the original must be produced at document verification.
  3. Your name, father’s name and date of birth must exactly match the matriculation or equivalent certificate. Any deviation found at document verification leads to cancellation of candidature and also debarment.
  4. Choose one Unit only, from the eight listed. Study the available training slots against your ITI trade before selecting — if the unit you pick has no slot in your trade, the application eventually becomes meaningless, and no change is allowed after final submission.
  5. Pay the fee online through the payment gateway. Print and retain the e-receipt.
  6. Note and preserve the Registration number issued on submission; all further stages and correspondence are tied to it.
  7. Indicate an active mobile number and a valid e-mail ID and keep them working throughout — all important messages are sent by e-mail or SMS and are treated as deemed to have been read.

Do not submit more than one application. Applications submitted with different particulars — father’s name, community, photo, educational or technical qualification, e-mail ID or mobile number — are all summarily rejected.

A help desk number will be available on the website from 23.10.2026, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., until the last date of receipt of applications, except on Sundays and holidays.

Apply early. RRC states that it accepts no responsibility for candidates who are unable to submit on the last day on account of website load or any other reason.

Railway Recruitment Cell, North Western Railway, Jaipur has published the Revised Detailed Notification for engagement of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 for the year 2026-27, against 2,008 training slots. The online application window is 23 October 2026 to 22 November 2026 (23:59 hrs).

This is a 10th pass + ITI recruitment with no written examination and no interview. Selection is done purely on your Class 10 percentage and your ITI percentage. There is also no domicile or Rajasthan-residence condition anywhere in the notification — a candidate from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana or anywhere else in India is eligible on exactly the same terms as a candidate from Jaipur.

Before anything else: the notification you may have downloaded is cancelled

This recruitment has already been through one false start, and a lot of candidates are still working from the dead version of it.

  • RRC/NWR first published Notice No. 04/2026 on 01.10.2026, with applications due to open on 07.10.2026.
  • On 07.10.2026 RRC issued a notice confirming that the application link had not been opened at all.
  • On 21.10.2026 RRC issued a formal notice stating that because the requisition was partially amended, the notification dated 01.10.2026 is cancelled (निरस्त), and that the Revised Notification No. 04/2026 dated 21.10.2026 is the only authorised one.

Why this matters to you: the trade and unit break-up changed between the two documents. Whole trades were dropped from some units and other trades were expanded. If you study the October 1 PDF and then pick a unit on that basis, you can end up choosing a unit that has no slot at all in your ITI trade — and the notification says plainly that no change is allowed after submission.

A second thing worth knowing: most job websites are still printing “last date 6 November 2026”, which came from the cancelled schedule. The real last date is 22 November 2026. We have mirrored all three official PDFs on our own server — the revised notification, the cancellation notice and even the dead 01.10.2026 document — so you can verify every line of this page yourself. The links are at the bottom.

There is no exam. Your marksheets are the exam.

This is the part that makes an Act Apprentice notification completely different from an RRB NTPC or Group D notification, and it is worth being very clear about.

  • The merit list is prepared on the simple average of your matriculation percentage and your ITI percentage in the trade applied for.
  • For matriculation, marks in all subjects are reckoned — not your best five, not a subject group.
  • For ITI, the marks printed on the provisional or final certificate are reckoned.
  • There is no written test, no typing test, no physical test and no interview.
  • If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred. If the dates of birth are also the same, the one who passed matriculation earlier is considered first.

So the entire exercise is: check your two percentages, average them, and judge honestly whether that average is competitive. Nothing you do between now and 22 November can change the number. What you can still control is which unit you choose — and that is where this notification is unusually unforgiving.

You get exactly one unit. You can never change it.

Clause 6 of the revised notification says candidates have to choose only one Unit, out of eight. Clause 13.3 repeats it. Clause 21.12 says that after selection, a request to change the division, unit or trade will not be considered. And clause 13.4 says that if you submit more than one application with different particulars, all of them are summarily rejected.

RRC even adds its own warning in a Note under the unit list:

“It should not happen that you select a Division/unit where there is no training slot requirement for your ITI Trade. In such a situation your application may eventually become meaningless, as you would not be allowed to make any changes after the final submission.”

Read that again, because it is the single most expensive mistake available in this recruitment. There is no centralized merit list (clause 3). The final merit list is prepared division/unit wise, trade wise and community wise (clause 4.3). Your competition is not every applicant in the country — it is only the candidates who chose your unit, in your trade, in your community. Choosing a smaller unit with fewer applicants in your trade is a legitimate strategy; choosing a unit that does not offer your trade at all is a wasted form and a non-refundable fee.

Division-wise vacancies

These are the eight units you choose between, with the community break-up exactly as printed in the revised notification.

A note on the total. The opening paragraph of the revised notification says 2,008 slots. The eight division-wise tables printed later in the same document add up to 2234. Both figures are reproduced here exactly as RRC printed them; the headline figure appears to have been carried over from the cancelled notification while the tables were revised. Treat 2,008 as the official figure until RRC issues a corrigendum, and note that clause 7 in any case says the number of training slots is provisional and liable to increase or decrease. Either way, every unit and trade figure below is what you actually apply against.

Trade-wise vacancies across all eight units

The notification does not print a trade-wise summary — it only lists trades separately inside each of the eight unit tables. We have added them up so you can see where your ITI trade actually stands. 18 trades are notified in total.

Fitter, Welder and Electrician alone account for 1521 of the 2234 slots — about 68%. If your ITI is in one of those three, every one of the eight units has something for you and your decision is purely about where the competition is thinnest. If it is not, the next table matters much more.

Trades available in only one unit

These trades appear in exactly one of the eight units. If your ITI is in one of them, your unit choice is already made for you — selecting any other unit makes the application meaningless.

UnitTrades available nowhere else
DRM JodhpurStenographer (8), Chemical Laboratory Assistant (3), Draughtsman (9), Dental Laboratory Technician (2), Forger & Heat Treater (45)

This is why DRM Office, Jodhpur deserves a second look from anyone with an unusual ITI. It is the only unit in the whole notification carrying Stenographer (English and Hindi), Draughtsman, Chemical Laboratory Assistant and Dental Laboratory Technician slots, and it holds the only Forger & Heat Treater slots as well. Candidates in those trades almost never see a railway apprenticeship opening at all.

Who can apply

Educational qualification

The candidate must have passed the Class 10 examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised Board, and possess a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the NCVT or SCVT.

Two traps here, both of which reject people every year:

  • “No rounding off will be done.” The notification says this in parentheses, in bold, in the qualification clause. 49.8% is not 50%. There is no discretion and no representation possible.
  • “Those awaiting results of the final exams need not apply.” You must already hold both the matriculation result and the National Trade Certificate as on the date of submission of the application. An ITI final-year student whose result is pending is not eligible, however good the marks turn out to be.

Age

Candidates must have completed 15 years and must not have completed 24 years as on 22.11.2026.

CategoryUpper age relaxation
SC / ST5 years
OBC3 years
Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD)10 years
Ex-ServicemenUp to an additional 10 years — service rendered in the Defence Forces plus 3 years, subject to a minimum of 6 months’ service at a stretch

The PwBD and Ex-Servicemen seats shown in the unit tables are not separate; they are included within the total number of seats.

Medical standard

Selected candidates must produce a medical certificate in the format at Annexure-IV, signed by a Government Authorised Doctor (Gazetted) not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central or State Hospital. The minimum standards prescribed are a height of 137 cm, weight of 25.4 kg and chest expansion of not less than 3.8 cm.

Application fee

CategoryFee
All candidates except those below₹100
SC / ST / PwBD / WomenNil

The fee is non-refundable and is paid online through the payment gateway on www.rrcjaipur.in as part of the application process. Any bank or transaction charge is borne by the candidate. Note that all women candidates pay nothing regardless of category — which, combined with the absence of any exam, makes this one of the lowest-cost applications on the board right now.

How to apply

  1. Go to www.rrcjaipur.in from 23.10.2026. Applications are accepted only online — no physical copy is to be sent, and if one is received no cognizance is given to it.
  2. Keep your 12-digit Aadhaar number ready. It is filled at registration and the original must be produced at document verification.
  3. Enter your name, father’s name and date of birth exactly as recorded in the matriculation certificate. Any deviation found at document verification leads to cancellation of candidature and debarment.
  4. Before choosing, open the trade tables for every unit and confirm your ITI trade actually has slots there. You get one unit and one trade, permanently.
  5. Pay the fee online. Print and keep the e-receipt generated on successful payment.
  6. Note and preserve the Registration number issued on submission — every later stage is tied to it.
  7. Use a mobile number and e-mail ID that will stay active; RRC treats everything sent by SMS or e-mail as deemed to have been read.

Submit well before 22 November. RRC states in Note-II that it accepts no responsibility for candidates unable to submit on the last day, for website load or any other reason.

What this is — and what it is not

An Act Apprenticeship is a training engagement, not a railway job. The notification is unusually direct about this, in clause 21.2:

Imparting training in Railway will not confer any right to the candidates for their absorption in Railway after successful completion of training. In terms of para-10 of Schedule V of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, it shall not be obligatory on the part of the employer to offer any employment to the apprentice.

Also worth planning for:

  • No hostel accommodation is provided. You arrange your own stay for the whole training period, in Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur or Jodhpur.
  • Stipend and training period are as per the extant rules and directives of the Railway Board; the notification does not print a figure.
  • No TA/DA is paid for document verification.
  • Before training starts, you (or your guardian, if you are a minor) must enter into a Contract of Apprenticeship with the employer.

What it is, though, is a real, completed Act Apprenticeship certificate from Indian Railways — which is itself the eligibility condition for the Railway Apprentice quota in later recruitments, and carries weight in PSU and private industry hiring. For a 10th + ITI candidate aged 15 to 24, with no exam to clear and a ₹100 fee, the arithmetic is hard to argue with.

Five mistakes that will cost you this form

  1. Working from the 01.10.2026 PDF. It is cancelled. The trade and unit numbers in it are wrong.
  2. Choosing a unit with no slot in your ITI trade. Check the trade table for that specific unit, not the overall total. No change is permitted afterwards.
  3. Applying with 49-point-something percent in matriculation. No rounding off.
  4. Applying while your ITI result is awaited. Explicitly barred.
  5. Submitting a second form to “correct” the first. All such applications are summarily rejected — not just the later one.

Always read the official notification before applying. We have mirrored the complete 25-page revised PDF, the cancellation notice and the cancelled original on our own server — the download links are in the Important Links section below — so you are reading exactly the documents RRC/NWR published, and not somebody’s summary of a notification that no longer exists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the RRC NWR Act Apprentice notification dated 1 October 2026 still valid?

No. RRC/NWR issued a notice on 21.10.2026 stating that because the requisition was partially amended, the notification dated 01.10.2026 is cancelled, and the Revised Notification No. 04/2026 dated 21.10.2026 is to be treated as the authorised one. The trade and unit break-up changed between the two documents, so studying the old PDF can lead you to select a unit that has no slot in your ITI trade.

What is the last date to apply for RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

The online application opens on 23 October 2026 and closes on 22 November 2026 at 23:59 hrs. Many websites are still showing 6 November 2026, which came from the cancelled schedule in the 01.10.2026 notification and is no longer correct.

How many vacancies are there in RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

The revised notification invites applications against 2,008 training slots across eight divisions and units of North Western Railway. The division-wise tables printed in the same document add up to a higher figure, and clause 7 states that the number of slots is provisional and liable to increase or decrease depending on the actual needs of the administration at the time of finalisation.

Is there any written exam for RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

No. There is no written test and no interview. Selection is made on a merit list prepared from the simple average of your matriculation percentage and your ITI percentage in the trade applied for. For matriculation, marks in all subjects are reckoned.

What is the qualification for RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

You must have passed Class 10 or its equivalent (under the 10+2 system) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised Board, and hold a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT or SCVT. The notification states in bold that no rounding off will be done, so 49.8% is not accepted.

Can I apply if my ITI result is awaited?

No. The notification states that candidates should have the requisite educational and technical qualifications as on the date of submission of the application, and that those awaiting results of the final exams need not apply.

What is the age limit for RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

Candidates must have completed 15 years and must not have completed 24 years as on 22.11.2026. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD and up to an additional 10 years for Ex-Servicemen.

What is the application fee for RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

The fee is ₹100 for all candidates except SC, ST, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and Women, for whom it is Nil. It is non-refundable and is paid online through the payment gateway on www.rrcjaipur.in.

How many units can I choose in RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

Only one. Clause 6 of the revised notification requires candidates to choose one Unit out of the eight listed, and clause 21.12 states that after selection a request to change the division, unit or trade will not be considered. Submitting more than one application with different particulars results in all of them being summarily rejected.

Which unit should I choose in RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

First check that the unit actually has slots in your ITI trade — the notification itself warns that selecting a unit with no requirement in your trade makes the application meaningless. After that, remember there is no centralized merit list: the final merit list is prepared division/unit wise, trade wise and community wise, so you compete only against candidates who chose the same unit, trade and community. The four DRM offices (Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur) carry the bulk of the slots, while the workshops and B.T.C. units are much smaller.

Can candidates from outside Rajasthan apply for RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

Yes. The revised notification contains no domicile or residence condition of any kind. Any candidate in India who meets the age and qualification requirements can apply, on the same terms. The training itself is at units in Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur or Jodhpur, and no hostel accommodation is provided.

Will I get a railway job after completing the apprenticeship?

There is no guarantee. Clause 21.2 of the notification states that imparting training in the Railway will not confer any right to absorption, and that in terms of para 10 of Schedule V of the Apprenticeship Rules 1992, it is not obligatory on the employer to offer employment after the training. What you do receive is a completed Act Apprenticeship certificate from Indian Railways, which is itself the eligibility condition for the railway apprentice quota in later recruitments.

What stipend is paid to an RRC NWR Act Apprentice?

The notification does not print a figure. It states that the training period and stipend will be as per the extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time. It also states that no hostel accommodation is provided and that no TA/DA is paid for attending document verification.

What happens if two candidates have the same marks?

The older candidate is preferred. If the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation examination earlier is considered first.
